Backup Quicken - Why do I need to backup my Quicken data file?

Backing up your Quicken file is a good idea, either to burnable media or BackupRight. Otherwise, if you loose your data you will no longer have records of your financial information and if you have paper copies you will need need to re-enter them - this can be very time consuming.

How do I backup my Quicken to CD or DVD?

  • Step 1: Launch Quicken.
  • Step 2: From the 'File' menu, select 'Backup'.
  • Step 3: In the 'Back up your current file or select another file below' section make sure that the correct file is displayed.
  • Step 4: Check the 'Add date to file name' box.
  • Step 5: In the 'Where do you want to save you backup file' section select 'On my computer'.
  • Step 6: Navigate to the location where you wish to save your backup file.
  • Step 7: Click 'OK' to start the back up.
  • Step 8: Click 'OK' when the backup is completed.
  • Step 9: You can now burn the exported Quicken file to CD or DVD.

Restoring your Quicken company backup file from CD or DVD

  • Step 1: Launch Quicken.
  • Step 2: Insert your backup CD or DVD.
  • Step 3: From the 'File' menu, select 'Restore Backup File'.
  • Step 4: Click the 'Browse' button and select the file you wish to restore from.
  • Step 5: Click 'OK' to start the restore process.
  • Step 6: Click 'OK' when the file is restored.
  • Step 7: From the 'File' menu, select 'Open' and select the file you just restored.

How do I backup my Quicken using BackupRight?
